Health Savings Account (HSA)
What is this?
An HSA account is an attractive interest bearing checking account used in conjunction with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). An HSA is a tax exempt account that can be used to pay for qualified medical expenses. Interest earned is tax deferred. To qualify for an HSA:
- You must be covered by a HDHP.
- You are not covered by a health plan other than a HDHP.
- You are not enrolled in Medicare.
- You are not claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return.
